Dog Walk Forecast tells you whether it's OK for your dog to go for a walk right now. It checks paw-burn risk from hot pavement and heatstroke risk separately, and adjusts the verdict for your dog's breed, age and build. You can also see recommended walk times for today and tomorrow, and watch your walk with the time left before the danger zone on the Lock Screen.
Walk forecasts, pavement temperatures and WBGT are estimates from weather data and may differ from actual conditions. Always check the ground and your dog on the spot. The app does not provide veterinary diagnosis or treatment advice.
Forecasts are from Apple Weather. For places outside Japan, weather alerts also come from Apple Weather (in the U.S., from the National Weather Service). For municipalities in Japan, the app also uses public data from the Japan Meteorological Agency for current temperatures, rainfall, rain radar, warnings, yellow dust and nationwide weather. See Settings > Sources in the app for the full list.
The walk forecast, recommended times, hourly and 7-day forecasts, weather alerts, weather cards, walk watching, the walk log and sharing with family work anywhere. Rain radar, nationwide weather, Japan Meteorological Agency warnings, yellow dust and PM2.5, approaching thunder and seasonal care are available only for places in Japan.
Only when you choose "Use my current location." In Japan, the app finds the nearest municipality on your device and does not send your location anywhere. Outside Japan, it sends your location rounded to about 2 km to Apple's map service to look up the name of your city. You can also search for a city or pick one from the list; then location permission is not needed.
Everything is stored on your device and is never sent to an external server. No account is required. When you use Share with family, a small amount of information (the time you tapped "Walked", the name you entered, and the inviter's Premium expiration date) is shared through iCloud. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Premium is a monthly or yearly auto-renewable subscription (no free trial). It adds unlimited walk watching, your dog's trends from the walk log, a morning notice on extra-hot days, more than one dog, sharing with family, and a choice of weather guides. The weather, walk forecast, recommended times and other basic features are free, and you can try walk watching 3 times a month for free. The price is shown in the app and on the App Store.
On your iPhone, open Settings > your name > Subscriptions > Dog Walk Forecast. If you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, it will not renew.
Go to the Settings tab > About Premium, then tap "Restore purchase."
Verdicts are estimates based on the WBGT categories of Japan's Ministry of the Environment, public materials written by veterinarians, and measured data. Because every dog is different, the criteria lean toward caution, but please always make the final decision by checking the ground and your dog on the spot.
